Adapting Agile - A TV Ratings Perspective

Presenter:
Rob Black
23 January 2014 - 12:00pm

This was a presentation to the Stanford Agile Community of Practice.

In it I presented my experiences with various project management methodologies and their strengths and weaknesses.

The methodologies covered were:

  • Scrum
  • XP
  • Waterfall
  • RUP
  • PRINCE2

My conclusion was that Scrum combined with XP was the best way to manage pure software development. However, for many real-world projects that is not sufficient. You need to layer another non-software project management methodology on top to deal with non-software aspects. I have had some success in using a lightweight adaptation of PRINCE2 for this.

I am an APMG-certified PRINCE2 Practitioner.
